Windsurfing: Bradfield Wind Direction: N/NW Wind Stength: 10-15kts Surf / Sea State: flat Air Temperature: cool Sea Temperature: cool Weather: cloudy Max Speed: 24.73 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 9.4 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Pete and Jason got me on the field car park with a nice log over the big
pothole, around 3pm to arrive to a full car park. Sailors and kites. Most
sailors were on big kit, so rigged 8.6 Gaastra Savage set baggy / 146 JP
excite ride pro, wind about 12kts. Just as I launch a nice 15kts gust came
through and I had a barn stomping ride in both straps all the way past
Wrabness down to Harkstead, at least a mile away absolute brilliant. Shame
it was a close ish reach so the 22kt speed on the GPS was not great, the
Harkstead had no wind so it was a slog back. Pete, Ian Squiz Colsely and
Nick were all planning hard on the flat water and it was a nice day. Alas
the wind was up and down so not classic. Stayed a couple of hours and close
to high tide the wind died. My last run was on another gust following the
crafty Pete who had 24kts on his GPS. He bore off on the gust completely
broad to the Marina wall and the shallows and flat water to get another
good GPS reading. Saw him just in time and hammered towards the shallows
and grounding out badly, but hit 24.72 just pipping his 24.3. Lost some
much ground I had to put a couple of beats in to get back. Thanks Ian for
guiding me out of the field. 4 stars cos of the mud and poxy potholes
